Okay so I started to clean up the shed and the crates of stuff from easter !!! Break down , clean , reassemble the motor and gear box for a run up in the bay . Great to smell carb cleaner and have grease under the finger nails . Don't ever remember so much crank shaft slop , god these motors are just crap it's a wonder they run at all . lol Will come up and run at the bay of Islands , Mark travels so often to run with us , figured it would be nice for as many as possible to return the favour and run in his neck of the woods .

Got one motor back together , paid extra attention to gear box and drive shaft clearances . Found water impeller rubbing on gasket slightly . I think turns more freely than before . Hoping this relates to better speed . had a dream (read nightmare ) last night about a garden gnome drinking Tui beer being at the finish line before me laughing . What's that about ?

fired up the motor after changing coils ! It runs in the wheelie bin , but it's never the same as on the boat under load . Not going to get wet again before the race , so it either runs or I watch from the beach .
