Yup , I hope so , I'm formulating ideas, but I'll run with my short slow boat with too much rocker this year . I'd Love to be in the 20 foot class !!!

How about a lighter, stiffer, narrower version of the Waikato flea?
How about it Tinker? You could build a new version using 3-4mm with 400gsn taped joints, 400gsm biaxial cloth, either peel-ply'd or vaccuumed inside and out. Should be lighter than your current boat but just as strong.
Or go for length like the Bermudan flea boats.....but would not be in the 20ft Class, alas.

Have thought of using current boat as a mould for a light weight glass version. My boat is a compromise fast and useful for other events. Camping etc

Does any body know a naval architect /designer type who can help me draft a new boat to draw up the stations stage . Or does any body have a cad design programme to do this ?

I have used Google sketchup for designing all my boats its a free cad type program. Works very well and very simple and easy to use!

hi chicken, do you have any skectup designs you could share.
I've just finished building my first boat - a 9 foot Pelin Gemini dinghy with a seagull and am almost ready to start a bigger project

I have a 20 ft bermudian class which weighs in at around 30 kg and one person can lift so if I do run next year expect good competition and the record to be broken , I,m undecided which class yet with 2.5 hp modified class or the 20ft bermudian class in the mix and being the 30th year I would like to run the ex team NZ's 26ft boat which would be good on a rough trip down the river , shame we only get one crack at it a year !
