Lake Rotorangi. The Lake is 31km from Patea. The lake, which is the longest man-made lake in New Zealand (46 kms), It twists and turns and has heaps of Arms to explore. The road to the Lake is named Ball Road. If going there you need to take EVERTHING. It is a back to BASIC'S experience. No petrol station, no shops, no pubs but heaps of Moreporks and Possums the odd Deer and Pig....Back to basics AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Anyone interested to make this one happen?

When you say 'Frigid' I assume we're talking winter or early spring. This year? Don't want to clash with other events. Maybe September. Can we leave the cars at the dam and spend a night or two up the lake? All I need is a tent, sleeping bag, food and a bottle of sherry to keep me warm. ;D

I would be keen to do this trip. Maybe could set boat up for camping on board to do this lake. Also maybe a long weekend could be good.
