A nice cheap & quick way to set this up is to tap in a stub of threaded 1/2"bsp galv water pipe. You'll need to machine down the pipe outside diameter to suit a Villiers carb. If you were really keen I suppose you could socket bush it up to take an Amal. Parts req are; * pipe * thread sealant * paint Maybe $10 total. This method leaves a round port (in the first instance) Gives a modest power boost of about 20%

The stub can be bored opposite the current carb. You use two throttle cables and levers. Threading the new stub in and sealing it with solder. Machine the inside so it is smooth and true to the bore. Hone bore to finish. Maybe a couple of chain saw carbs to boot. Should go well.

Ok I get it now. You bore a hole on the other side of the engine block to tap and seal the Gal pipe in to mount the 2nd carb. The pipe must match up and align with the intake ports. Thats some pretty good thought there. Trust the Kiwis to come up with something like that . You guys could come up with a new Movie. We could call it the worlds fastest seagull. ;D ;D ;D

inlet ports on either side at different heights is best to get more fuel /air in , smallest 10mm throat carbs are best , best block to use is LLS century 100 when tuning you need to try different size air intakes and drill hole in top of carbs where throttle cable enters carb so you can adjust needle when motor is running under load , You can use the 13 mm villiars carbs but again you need to tune with air intakes and needle adjustment , They can be rewarding but can be frustrating as well

"They can be rewarding but can be frustrating as well"
As is anything to do with seagulls, The big question Ross how much faster are they than a standard motor?

The picture above is my twin carb job and when you see me turn up with it in the modified class then you will know that it's faster than the single carb , I may have to use it to get my modified class record back from Graham Keegan

I am thinking a front mount carb on cases with reed valve block. Can be done I reckon. Plenty of room to move.
Just like a C-Powa or similar

That idea is well worth discussing
I think I'll start a new thread on this

I have just fired up the twin carb LLS which after a couple of simple little mods is powering up the test tank and is ready for another trial run on the boat , also I have the tuned pipe on the 40 plus up and running and shows signs of good HP , My aim with the 2.5 hp is to beat the 5 hp modified record , a tall order but is possible as engine is lighter and needs less fuel so lighter again and I hope to run a very light hull , Its just me weighing in at 80 kg that's the problem ! The seagull 170 has been given a nose cone and low water pickup in the nose cone and had to drill a couple of jets as she was starving of fuel last easter even with a 140 jet ,just finished repitching a old Bri-Ski two blade racing prop so expect to get close to 28 -30 mph now as was sitting 24-25.5 mph at easter , If anyone wants to get a QB going which is the 5R and or 170 I have most bits and JC has some bits and Charles in the UK is a good source for the hard to get bits make contact 0274 424 850 , keen to get more racing in this class as the sports are dying out.

years back we had a go kart with a Villiers engine on it. An all alloy engine which used 3 bolts to hold it down. We took some metal off the bottom end of the block to raise the compression. Ran a die grinder through the small twin ports and made one large one and fitted a Bridgestone motorbike carby. It took all our effort to get this to kick over compression but once it started it went extremely quick. So another option is a motorbike carby as it has a simple air mixture screw as well.
