hi all, after some help.
had the seagull out a couple of days ago, wind was up,water rough & it ran like a dream.
next day,beautiful & sunny,no wind & calm waters & i start getting trouble.
motor started first pull as it always does but once under way it starts coughing & spluttering, until it stalls.starts first pull again but it`s not happy. ran it through the rev range in neutral & it`s struggling to rev properly but every now & then it will rev properly.
continues to do this all day, best way to describe it is that it`s breaking down under load & it used a heap of fuel.
can anyone suggest what to look for ? i was thinking of starting by changing the plug.
all advice greatly appreciated
cheers jason

sounds like contaminated fuel or dirty carburetor I'd remove carb and spray carb clearer up jets check fuel tap filter , rinse tank , replenish fuel. take care tightening carb threads can be stripped.

Do as chilli said first. And be careful when you tighten up all the threads. Caustic soda granuals in the fuel tank and add water and give a good shake and pour out. Do this till the contents drain out clear. Could take a few goes. Be exact with your fuel and oil ratios. If that fails then clean and regap your points with a new plug.

thanks for the replies. will clean carb & tank & see how it goes, remembered today that this all happened after getting "fresh" fuel so as chillidog said could be contaminated fuel.
